Rembuden Kendo Taikai

Rembuden Kendo Taikai is New Zealand's annual Kendo competition open to all-comers. Organised and hosted by Wellington's Rembuden Kendo Club, it is the longest running shiai in New Zealand Kendo. The Taikai attracts competitors from all over New Zealand and always features fiercely contested shiai in good spirit.  Many New Zealand Kendo representatives have gained valuable shiai experience at Rembuden Taikai over the years.

The Rembuden Kendo Club is grateful for the ongoing support for the Taikai from competitors and shimpan alike that continue to make it a success and contribute to the ongoing development of Kendo in New Zealand.  The Rembuden Kendo Club is also grateful for the support of Akira Nakamura who has a proud history as a competitor while also contributing as a shimpan.  In 2018 Akira kindly donated medals (several years) for the Taikai.

The 26th Rembuden Kendo Taikai 2026 will be held over the weekend of 5&6 September 2026.  The venue will be Samuel Marsden Collegiate School Gymnasium, Karori, Wellington.  Further details are in the information pack below:
