Asia Oceania Kendo Championships

The inaugural Asia Oceania Kendo Championships (1AOKC) will be held at the Tokyo Budokan in May 2026. Regarding the international kendo tournaments, the World Kendo Championships (WKC) are held every three years, the European Kendo Championships (EKC) have been held 33 times as of 2025, and the Latin American Kendo Championships (CLAK), bringing together countries from Central and South America, have also been held nine times. The Asia Oceania Kendo Championships will be the first international tournament for the Asian region.

Outstanding Performance by Max Lee

Rembuden Kendo's Max Lee represented New Zealand in both the Men's Individual (3rd dan and below division) and the Men's Team event.  Max 's consistent focus and committment was rewarded with outstanding success in both events. Max won the Men's 3rd dan and below individual division on day 1.  On day 2 he won all his team fights in the chuken position and was one of 4 men to receive a fighting spirit award.  Of note, throughout both events Max won all his fights without conceding a single point.  In addition (with the exception of one fight), he won all his fights decisively with two points.  Max was able to overcame opponents fighting in chudan, jodan and nito in a compelling and complete performance.
